LA ZONA Fragolino 2013

LA ZONA Fragolino 2013

Grown on our Whitfiled vineyard at 300m above sea level, our Fragolino is renowned for its intensely fruity scented aroma and delicate palate with a light spritz finish. Known in Italy as Fragolino, the Fragola grape is a hybrid of an American and European vine, producing a grape commonly known as Uva Americana, or Isabella. Enjoy it for its strawberry, toffee and fairy floss flavours, crisp acid and touch of sweetness.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
COLOUR: Light red to a hint of salmon. AROMA: Intense strawberry with hints of confectionary, fairy floss and musk. PALATE: Intense flavours of confectionary and strawberry combine in a sweet front palate followed by refreshing acidity and burnt caramel on the finish.
Winemaker Notes
“Isabella grapes are picked when its unique flavours have fully developed usually, around 12% potential alcohol. The fruit is crushed and soaked cold with the skins until the juice has extracted enough colour before being pressed and allowed to settle. The clarified juice is fermented cool in stainless steel to preserve fruit flavours before being arrested at 7% alcohol to preserve some sweetness. The wine is bottled cold to retain a spritz of carbon dioxide.“
Food Pairing Notes
Delightful aperitif and perfect dessert wine when paired with a strawberry cheese cake or a rich black forest cake with delicious berries.

We have been drinking this wine for 3 years now. For the warmer weather cannot get better. The strawberry flavour is amazing. Add a nice cheese platter and a nice shady garden setting and your day is complete. Not too sweet, just perfect.
